Become an AHA Instructor

Thank you for your interest in becoming an American Heart Association (AHA) Instructor. LBW Training Center takes great pride in our role of developing and mentoring instructors. We have trained hundreds of instructors to confidently and professionally present this incredibly valuable information.

The following is a brief outline of what’s involved in instructor training.  First, anyone interested in becoming an instructor, must hold a current “Provider Level” certification from the AHA (meaning you hold a current BLS, ACLS, and/or PALS certification).  You’ll be asked to present a copy of this certification during your instructor training.

Second, you’ll need to complete the AHA’s “Instructor Essentials” course for each discipline you wish to teach. This is an interactive self study course that focuses on basic teaching principals and methodology.  Next, we will meet with you individually for a Training Center Orientation. We will explain your role and responsibilities as an instructor, our responsibility as your training center, the hierarchy of the AHA and all the administrative components involved in being an instructor.

Finally,  you will join us for one of our classes as an assistant instructor. This will give you an opportunity to ease into the role of an instructor.

Once these requirements have been met the instructor will be able to teach on their own. However, if an instructor chooses, they may assist with as many additional classes as they wish. LBW’s role as the instructor’s Training Center, is one of on going instructor support. We simply wish to give instructors every resource possible so they feel comfortable and confident teaching this material.

Please call (602) 283-0079 to schedule your appointment with our Training Center Coordinator, or email Frank@LBWtrainingcenter.com.

Each instructor course requires the AHA Instructor and Provider Manuals and the AHA Course DVD.  The required AHA online instructor essentials course module is included with your purchase.

Mannequins, videos, student manuals, certification cards and other teaching supplies are additional expenses you may incur.  When you’re ready to begin, give us a call! We’re looking forward to hearing from you.
